It's more or less a matter of finding work, getting my truck, figuring out school and what's next, etc.

Lol work? Youre lucky. Texas and Alaska were the two states hit least by the recession. Here theres too many unemployed and not enough work to go around.
As for school,im suprised you dont become like a pronzstarz. Me and the Lady have been deciding on leaving NY for TX for work.Theres nothin here and its so fucking old. |

Yeah, I know that but it's hard to find a good automotive job here. But now I'll have my diploma, plus I got my hour sheet from auto tech, so it should be easier. Hittin oreilys auto parts tomorrow, hopefully that'll go well. Plus i'm about to be OSHA 10 certified, so after that it should be easier. I've fucked off alot instead of looking for a job so now it's harder to get one since college students are getting back now...

Houston has one of the biggest opportunities in the nation because it is sooooo huge for an area so small (which also means traffic all day every day). I mean, it makes sense that Texas and Alaska are the least affected. Nobody lives in Alaska so nobody could be affected... and Texas has a bunch of the biggest metroplexes in the nation/world.... all within relatively close distance. San Antonio, Houston, and DFW. If you map it, its triangular if you were to connect the cities with lines. They actually named that triangle, because its the area that really defines Texas's economic standing.

Funny thing is now, I'm finding small work to do to keep hanging on. Yards, looking at vehicles for people, etc. Looked at an 01 ram 1500 4x4, and got paid $20 to tell the people that the shocks are bad, the trans pan needed a gasket, and see that the check engine light was on. Then I also told them that the title was a salvaged title, and I drove the truck, and found the alignment was off. And I also noticed there were 3 kinds of tires on the truck, lol. I love being mechanically inclined...

From the sounds of it, you should try working at a salvage yard. If you head over to Airline Drive and 45, there are a lot there. There are also alot around that area of Houston.

I bought a motorcycle, and ride it daily. The insurance is 8 dollars a month, and i spend 5 dollars every 5 days on gas. It's perfect.

Buy a motorcycle. Go on craigslist, don't spend more than 600, easier to maintain than a car, and 100x cheaper.

Not sure about other states, but Texas requires you to have a separate ID for motorcycles...
So don't forget that either if you end up getting a bike.

I may get a dirt bike after my truck, I'm not getting an actual bike. My brother in law got fucked up in a bike wreck, and I lost my best friend in a motorcycle accident. Not going there.

Where I am it only costs 90 dollars for a permit, then you schedule your license test a month later and they reprint you license with an M next to endorsements.
Sean, man up, get a real bike, I'll even find you one off of craigslist for you.

Just looked through the Houston craigslist and found 2 bikes that don't seem to fucked up from the pictures/descriptions. Take a look at them.
