ferret's car

i don't do much mods to my 96 escort, but i tinker when i can.

Today i needed to re-adjust my e-brake and i decided i didn't really make use of my a/c. So i bought a different belt to re-route around the a/c pulley and a dummy pulley. There is a HP gain of sorts. I Know i can get 8-11 from bypassing the powersteering and a/c , so hopefully this should make things a little more exciting.

Sounds pretty baller, lol. I gotta get a new belt for my bmw, and the horn and turn signal relays, and get it inspected.

I basically refined my intake a bit, pulled the Throttle body off to clean up a bit, put a K&N air filter in and re routed that awful pcv hose to that little cone filter. Now all the oil that it spews out of there wont get my K&N filter dirty which is the single biggest thing to get my air filter dirty in the first place.
before

after

ALSO my sub. Yeah i know i'm ... ballin'

Word of advice, cold clean air makes lots of power.that and good plugs.since it you said its 94,there might be a program on the net that mods your efi curves for more power.should google or irc it..

LOL OVEN MITT! actually this a poor mans COLD AIR. I used to have the rest of the intake covered with that and dryer hose but i keep taking it off. The ENTIRE Idea of COLD AIR INTAKES are to insulate the tubing from the heat the engine radiates. That is why you see alluminum tubes because they help reflect the heat. The K&N kit you can buy is intense insulation for any cars intake. I took Housing ducting insulation and started covering up stuff. I need to re-do some of it so i'll probably pull it out again and take better pics for ya's. I did it for the improved MPG.

New plugs just recently, I picked up some auto lights and upon replacing it looks as if cyl. 2 has some oil leakage because the plug was white.

96OBDII =[ No cheap mods for the computer.

i mean do a CAI that runs out of the car.that way youre pulling in air from out of the engine bay.if i get my corvair going i plan on getting a cold air kit that pulls it in off the top of the engine bay.i guess its an acceptable trade off for having a motor in the back.

Get a laptop, the USB cable and see if you can get the diagnostoics software.Set it up and play with your fuel air curves.Remember dont go too lean.
